Why Crosssair gave the BAe 146 the nickname Jumbolino can only be speculated. Personally, I can live quite well with this nickname, even if it does not do justice to the true beauty of a BAe 146.

It was not the fastest, the most efficient or even the quietest aircraft that was mainly used on short-haul routes… But it was probably the most striking aircraft on this route.

I remember very well how the BAe 146 made heads turn every time it took off or landed somewhere. It was simply the „queen of the skies“. And sometimes it also transported royal passengers 😉
